Rochelle's H&M Trial!

Who: Rochelle
What: H&M Trial
When: Saturday, April 6

Rochelle was super sweet and easy to work this last Saturday when she came in for her H&M trial. Thanks to Effie and Jenny, two former clients who both helped to pass my name on!

Rochelle was able to e-mail me some photos of makeup looks she wanted prior to our trial. She was going for a very light and natural look. Here's what we came up with :)

Hair Fun with Eli!

Who: Eli
What: Updo
When: April 4

I always try to get in some hair/makeup play days whenever school's out for a break. This Spring Break was no exception! I headed over to my friend Eli's place and we had some hair fun before going out to lunch.

Before and After #1

This updo was accomplished through several steps.

1. I used a curling iron to curl and give volume to all of Eli's hair

2. Tease crown and pull hair up into a half
3. Create two loose pigtails close together with remaining hair

4. Roll braids and pin in place

Thanks for letting me play with your hair Eli! That was fun! :)

Daisy's H&M Trial!

Who: Daisy
What: Wedding Hair & Makeup Trial
When: Friday, March 29

It was so much fun with Daisy this past Friday! The conversation was so easy and so were the laughs! Hard to believe that she's the more introverted one in the relationship :)

Thanks for the referral Miranda :) As always, I super appreciate it! The timing worked out perfectly where Spring Break had just started for me, and Daisy and Wing were able to work it out with their photographer for an engagement photo shoot. I love it when everything falls into place like that.

Eyes open and closed

After listening to Daisy's previous experience with false lashes, I decided to use my most natural set. These ones are lighter, thinner, and not as long... however, they still help to give an extra added oomph for the special day :)

Back

One of the goals in working with Daisy's fine thin hair was to make it look fuller and more voluminous. To add volume to the crown, I teased Daisy's hair on top. To add volume to the back of Daisy's head, I used the remaining ends that were used to pull the hair into a half and created swirls over the pins.

See you soon Daisy! Looking forward to working with you on your special day :)

Updo with NO Heat Tools!

Who: Jen
What: Random Hairplay Day!
When: Saturday, March 23

Last week our whole family was over at my sister's house for an early Easter dinner. We were hanging around and then I thought, "Hey! Let's play with hair!" Jen was willing to be my victim, but the only thing was, I hadn't brought any of my hair supplies or heat tools. My other sister Jaime was able to provide a comb, bobbi pins, and hairspray...good enough for me!

Before (Front and Back) - Jen's so cute!
Notice the layers...I realized later how much more difficult it is to style layers without a straightening/curling iron. The hair ends had a mind of their own and wanted to splay out like a fan!

During (Aack! It's a rat's nest! ) and After
I only had one rubber band to work with, so I used bobbi pins to hold the braids I had done on each side of Jen's hair.

Finished! :)

Stay tuned... it's taking forever to post about Jen's wedding day last October, but it's in the works!

Hair fun with Jaime!

Who: Jaime
When: Sunday, Feb. 24
What: Updo

I was over at my sister's house after church one day and we were able to play with some hair! Here's what I came up with... it was kind of like a deconstructed-reconstructed bun! (Kind of) :)

Before and After

I wanted to do a look where all of Jaime's hair was pulled up, but I didn't want to have to tie any of her hair into a ponytail first. One of the reasons for that is because Jaime doesn't have a lot of hair, plus her hair is very thin. Tying her hair into a ponytail would use up some of her hair that I'd want to use for volume and curls instead.

Once the upper half was teased, shaped, and pulled back, I was able to twist Jaime's remaining hair into a semi "S" shape. Once everything looked balanced, I pinned it down with bobby pins!

Which one do you like better?

Thanks for letting me play with you hair again, Ja!
