Lydia's Wedding Hair & Makeup + Mom and Sister!

Who: Lydia
What: Lydia's Hair & Makeup + Mom and Sister

Thanks so much to Anna for passing my name on to Lydia! I always appreciate my former clients who help to share their experience with me as a makeup artist :) THANK YOU!!!

What an absolutely fun and warm family Honey and I were introduced to as we stepped into Lydia's home to help with makeup and hair prep for Lydia's special day. Girls were flitting in an out of the room, food was offered to us multiple times, and there was just a general atmosphere of HAPPINESS that permeated the entire household.

MOTHER OF THE BRIDE: ELSIE
I had met Elsie during Lydia's makeup and hair trial and was able to work on her makeup first. Chatting with Elsie was truly a rewarding experience. I completely enjoyed our conversation and know God allowed me to hear Elsie's sharing about her family's journey so I could reflect on my own, especially as my two little boys get older and start making their own decisions!

MAID OF HONOR: VANESSA
Vanessa was next for makeup and completely trusted me in creating a makeup look for her! That, along with her being so calm and easy-going made the time with her and the makeup application a ton of fun.

It was great to have Lydia in the hair and makeup chair again! She's definitely a special girl where she just makes everyone around her feel at ease. Onto the photos!

HAIR:
This hair creation was constructed so that Lydia could have an updo for the ceremony, and let part of her hair down for the banquet.

I met Lauren out of the brother and sister team that makes up Hom Photography. So calm and friendly, she arrived right in the middle of Lydia's makeup application... taking the moments to capture the details and events of that morning. Sometimes, things can get a bit hectic under a time crunch, but Lauren was awesome, patient, and offered great suggestions to help keep the morning running smoothly for the wedding party. Thanks so much for sending over the photos Lauren!

Is a Videographer worth it?

YES.

YesYesYes!!! If you hire the right videographer, it is SO worth it! Do I know one? I do now :)

Back in September, I had the wonderful privilege of working with Daisy and her bridesmaids prep for her wedding day. Click here for the blog entry! I had a blast with the wedding party, but also met a bunch of topnotch wedding professionals!

Nick, from Less Than 3 Productions, was already busy getting his equipment set up when we arrived at Ruby Hill Golf Club. He was super friendly and professional, I remember being excited about seeing the final video with the highlights from Daisy and Wing's wedding.

When I got home later that day, I was able to watch a few of his previous videos from past weddings he had posted... how could it be possible to cry tears of joy for people getting married that you don't even know? I don't know. But it happened! WHY WASN'T NICK FROM LESS THAN 3 PRODUCTIONS AROUND WHEN I WAS GETTING MARRIED?!?!? Arg. What was done well? Everything! From the special moments captured, the highlights of the words spoken, the great editing while incorporating the perfect song (including the rise and fall of dynamics), the feel of the video, to the emotions the video brings out, this was a collection of real quality work. I was crying and clapping at the same time... and even MORE excited to see the final video for Daisy and Wing.

Fast forward a few month... taadaaaaaaa!!! Not disappointed :)

So happy for Daisy and Wing, and all the other lucky couples who were able to get their special day documented in such a magical way though through Less Than 3 Productions. Of course, I will always have my own cherished memories of my wedding day, but darn it, Honey and I really missed out.

So, is a videographer worth it?
YES.

Karen's Wedding Hair & Makeup Trial!

Who: Karen
What: Wedding Hair and Makeup Trial
Where: San Jose Home Studio

I LOVE seeing familiar faces, and this time was no different! I had met Karen while doing her bridesmaid makeup for her friend Catherine's Wedding. What was so funny, was that her fiance was my husband's housemate in college! What?!? What a small world :) It was such a pleasure to have her sitting in my makeup chair this time as the bride! When she had asked if her Matron of Honor could come with her during the trial, of course I said yes. Little did I know that it would be Catherine! It was a lot of fun catching up with the both of them while creating Karen's bridal look.

Esther's Wedding Hair & Makeup Trial

Who: Esther
What: Wedding Hair & Makeup Trial
Where: San Jose Home Studio

I'm so glad that Esther came in for her hair and makeup trial! Before we got started, she showed me a few pictures of some makeup and hair looks that she liked. Some things that came up through request or photo interpretation that I would include for Esther's wedding look were:

MAKEUP
- Dramatic and bold eyes
- Facial contouring

Before and After #1

Before and After #2

Before and After #3

Eyes open and eyes closed

HAIR
- Updo that would be able to incorporate a Korean binyeo (stick type hair accessory) stuck to the back typical for a Korean Paebaek Ceremony. Found an interesting article about it here. If you Google image search "Korean binyeo," there are so many beautiful options that show up! The one below is just an example, not the exact one that Esther will be wearing.
