Makeup Trial with Sue

Meeting and talking with Sue today helped remind me of how stressful the financial burdens can be on people who are prepping for their big day. There are so many unexpected costs and "nickle & diming" that gets thrown at the engaged couple. Being in that same place about a year ago for my own wedding planning, I really empathize with that struggle and tension it could cause.

As an encouragement though, things get better (way better!) There's nothing like experiencing that special day with your life partner and having the rest of your lives to enjoy, grow, learn from, and appreciate one another. Another plus side will be looking back at those trying times with finances and seeing how you and your loved one got through it.

Sue, I wish you the best with all the wedding planning (hidden costs and all)!

Cindy and Kijoon's Wedding!

What: Cindy and Kijoon's Wedding
When: Aug. 16, 2008
Where: Berkeley

Makeup application in process!
FYI - I did not end up doing Cindy's hair...just the makeup. Her friends did a fantastic job in creating the pinned back loose curls look! (Scroll down for the finished look).

I love this pictures of Cindy. Even though I had not completed the look, you can really see how relaxed and calm she was just hours before her wedding.

This had to be one of the top memorable experiences while doing Cindy's makeup. It was quite fun, seeing her mom and aunties come in and check out the bride as she was getting her makeup done. It was exciting to see them involved and happy. Cindy is really blessed to have family that care so much about her :)

Here's the Bride and I after hair and makeup! Beautiful and natural!

Although I was unable to stick around to witness the wedding, here are a couple of teaser shots taken by their professional photographer (Jessie Cho Photography).

Yay! Here's a link to the "Day of" photos for Cindy and Kijoon's wedding if you would like to see more:

Yelped Again! :)

Bao is such a beautiful person on the inside and out. Very warm and so fun to talk with. She found me through Yelp, and boy, was I glad she did! I loved working with her and hope she enjoys the wedding she's attending!

Melissa and Danny's Hawaiian Wedding!

Oh Hawaii (*sigh*) just the thought of that paradise brings back the warm and cozy feelings of beautiful sunsets, swaying palm trees, postcard beaches and pina coladas...and the most magical wedding event ever! You guessed it, my friend Lissa's big day.

The setting for the beautifying session:

Other important facts: Hot. Humid. Hot. Humid. Hot. Humid. Hot.

First Referral

About a month ago, I had the wonderful opportunity to do a makeup (and hair!) trial on Cindy. What was so cool about this client was that she had found me through the referral of one of her bridesmaids who so happened to be a guest at the very first wedding where I did makeup. So neat! Although I don't do hair, we decided to give it a try during the makeup trial anyway. Take a look at the before and afters!

Here are some more detailed pictures of the pulled back "wave" hair look:

YELP!

YELP is one of those things online that I stayed away from for a long time...that is until I started realizing just how valuable this community is. You can find reviews about stores, restaurants, services, and just about anything from a customer's honest viewpoint. I love it. It's great for people who just want to find out what's available and good (or bad) out there, and it's great for businesses who want to get the word out.

How awesome was it tonight when I had the chance to do a makeup trial for my first YELP customer, Liz! Thanks for finding me!

Here are just a few before and after shots:

Lissa's Makeup Trial

What a blessing friends are...especially ones that you've known for a reeaallly long time! Well, I've known Lissa now since we were both in the 6th grade. I won't disclose how old we are now, but let's just say we've had the privilege of sharing and experiencing "life" and the many things that come with it... including marriage!

Here are a few snapshots of her recent Wedding Day Makeup Trial:

Before & After

Outdoor shots with a hint of the beautiful purple eyelids

We tried two different lip color looks. The previous pictures were all of the more natural pink/peach lip, and this one here, with Lissa's bright smile is with the more vibrant plum lip.

Lissa's official Before and After photos will be soon added onto the "Porfolio" section in my website at www.jochowmakeup.com

Please check back when you have a chance to view them.

Makeup sessions with anyone are always a treat, but this time, it was especially meaningful. Who else would be so blessed to share in such a special upcoming event with a dear friend in this way?

Lissa and Danny, I'm so happy for the two of you and look forward to sharing in your joy as you get MARRIED!!!
